Jeff Yamada was thrilled to join the Lutheran Volunteer Corps in its mission to unite people to work for peace and justice, and especially one that stresses the Journey to an Inclusive Community as a core value. Jeff is a financial planner, a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, and a community volunteer. His racial justice framework is grounded in lived experience and family stories. Jeff is the current Board of Directors chair, and will serve in that capacity through August, 2019. Jeff’s professional background includes upper management roles at fee-only institutional fixed-income investment advisers in Los Angeles. For the last fourteen years, as a CFP® Professional, Jeff has helped clients answer the financial questions that might otherwise keep them up at night. Jeff received his MBA in international finance from St. John’s University in New York and his B.A. in international business and German from California State University, Fullerton. Jeff holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and is a member of the fee-only National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA). Raised in Orange County, California, Jeff has lived and worked in Zurich, Switzerland; New York City; Los Angeles; Eugene (Oregon), Norman (Oklahoma) and Suriname. An avid traveler, he is fluent in German and Sranan Tongo and speaks some French and Dutch. Jeff is happiest pursuing outdoor adventures with his three teenagers.
