More about these examples of LVC positions
Each year, Lutheran Volunteer Corps matches 90-95 full time Volunteers with social justice non-profit organizations across the U.S. This directory provides an overview of placement positions for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 program years.  About 80% of LVC partner placement organizations re-apply each year and we also have new positions each year that may not yet be on this list.

LVC Applicants see available positions as part of the application and matching process, including more in depth position descriptions. To have the widest choice of positions, apply by our Round 1 January 15th deadline. There are significantly fewer positions available for the Round 2 April 1st deadline. Client Communication Specialist – Lifelong AIDS Alliance

, ,
Lifelong empowers people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS and/or other chronic conditions to lead healthier lives. Lifelong was formed in January 2001 through the merger of Chicken Soup Brigade and Northwest AIDS Foundation. This union created a new agency ready to face a new era in the HIV/AIDS epidemic. In 2004, Lifelong's food program returned to the name Chicken Soup Brigade, to reflect the changing scope of services the food program now offers. In order to continue to provide home-cooked meals and nutritious groceries to clients with HIV/AIDS and to respond to the moral imperative to serve individuals with other illnesses, the food program's mission expanded to include serving home-bound seniors and people with chronic conditions. By expanding, Lifelong has been able to secure additional funding streams for the food program, as well as sharing the Chicken Soup Brigade kitchen'a valuable community resource'with other people in need. Chicken Soup Brigade views food as medicine and is committed to serving clients in the Puget Sound area with the nutritious food they need to manage their medical conditions.

Chicken Soup Brigade (CSB), the Food Program of Lifelong AIDS Alliance, provides nutrition services to people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses in King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties. CSB provides balanced groceries and medically specific meals for those with difficult to address dietary needs such as no gluten/no dairy, kidney dialysis restrictions, easy digestible foods, and nutritious but tasty soft foods for those with difficulty chewing and swallowing. CSB also offers individual nutritional counseling with our staff registered dietitians. The Client Services Communication Specialist supports our other program staff in maintaining contact with consumers of food and nutrition services, ensuring the accurate, timely, and accessible services are provided to clients. This position helps to identify individuals in need of nutrition support through outreach efforts, to enroll clients through scheduling of intakes and collection of eligibility documentation, and to provide information directly to consumers about services available to them. Chicken soup Brigade is about to launch new programs that empowers consumers to make specific food choices from our menus for every week. This Specialist will play an important role on both communicating with consumers, dietitians, and social service providers about their available diet choices and in troubleshooting all aspects of this exciting new facet of our services. This individual plays a large part in bridging cultural linguistic barriers to serve consumers from a wide diversity of backgrounds. CSB honors diversity and values experience in working with diverse populations and bilingual skills. CSB also believes that food is medicine. Because our consumers are enrolled in specialized diets and services are provided on very specific schedules, an eye for detail and patience are important qualities in a competitive candidate for this position. Knowledge and experience around HIV, heart disease, kidney disease and other chronic conditions are also considered big pluses.
