Position Type & Concern Area(s):
Organization Description:
All Peoples Church began as a new mission start of the ELCA in 1991. It is one of the rare occasions the ELCA has started a church in the central city. In our short history, we have grown to one of the largest predominantly African American congregations in the ELCA. Our mission statement is: 'Let the glory of the LORD rise among All Peoples.' We live out this vision of glory rising through commitments to Spirit-filed worship, radical hospitality and welcome, dedication to youth ministry, and an emerging focus on Health and Wellness ministry. Those that gather at All Peoples ' for worship or programs ' reflect the diversity of our name. Our neighborhood is predominantly African American, though we also reach individuals and families of Latino (mostly Puerto Rican) and European American backgrounds. While 80% of the All Peoples community live at or below the poverty level, we also reach middle class individuals and a variety of educational backgrounds. We have a stated commitment to be open and welcoming to all people including all sexual and gender identities.
