Each year, Lutheran Volunteer Corps matches approximately 50 full time Volunteers with social justice non-profit organizations in our program cities across the U.S. The directory below provides a SAMPLE list of placement positions for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 program years.  About 80% of LVC partner organizations re-apply each year; and in addition, we will have new positions that are not yet on the list.

LVC Applicants get to see the list of available positions as part of the application and matching process, including more in depth position descriptions.

To have the widest choice of positions, apply by our Round 1 January 15th deadline. There are significantly fewer positions available for the Round 2 April 1st deadline.

Our mission is mentoring kids for college today, and careers tomorrow.’The primary focus of Partnership 4 Kids is to provide low-income and at-risk students with consistent, supportive adult role-models to guide them on a pathway of continual academic achievement and preparedness to excel in the 21st century workforce. Omaha’s cycle of generational poverty, lack of hope and engagement, and lagging graduation rates are why Partnership 4 Kids (P4K) exists. P4K uses curriculum-based mentoring to turn this cycle of poverty and failure into one of achievement and success. Our four program pillars include: goal-setting, mentoring, college access and career exploration. Each pillar is incorporated at every level of programming, strengthening each student’s overall understanding of what their future success can look like and what is necessary to achieve it.
Position Description

JOB PURPOSE: Supports group mentoring and college access goals by implementing and coordinating
programming for P4K students in target high schools.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Program Facilitation: Facilitate leadership-based college access curriculum after school for juniors and seniors. Leads curriculum lessons and group meetings to help prepare students for post-secondary. Assists with implementation of programming so that students reach their personal and academic goals. Helps with program orientation and coordinates ongoing communication with students and parents/guardians. Assists with the curriculum development and planning of activities and field trips.  Recruits, interviews, and assesses student application materials to identify appropriate candidates for the mentoring program.  Aids in facilitation of summer programming for high school and college access students.

Case Management: Facilitates ongoing student engagement through phone calls, consistent emails and face to face meetings. Consults with staff to help in areas related to student development.

Meets with assigned students for monthly individual case management to provide academic support, partner program referrals and mentor match support.  Assists college access students with college and scholarship applications, FAFSA completion and other related activities.  Develops school relationships and maintains regular communication with key partners to best support student goals.

Administration: Maintains accurate and timely documentation of case management, program participation, student academic progress and match-related information in agency databases. Assists college access team with student tracking, scholarship coordination and student files. Contributes to individual, team and agency goals by assisting with programming, volunteer and development goals, including special projects and all other duties as assigned.
