Placement Positions

More about these examples of LVC positions
Each year, Lutheran Volunteer Corps matches approximately 50 full time Volunteers with social justice non-profit organizations in our program cities across the U.S. The directory below provides a SAMPLE list of placement positions for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 program years.  About 80% of LVC partner organizations re-apply each year; and in addition, we will have new positions that are not yet on the list.

LVC Applicants get to see the list of available positions as part of the application and matching process, including more in depth position descriptions.

To have the widest choice of positions, apply by our Round 1 January 15th deadline. There are significantly fewer positions available for the Round 2 April 1st deadline.

Position Description

The Food Justice Organizer coordinates the efforts of All Peoples Church in addressing food insecurity. This includes staffing the Isaiah 55 food pantry, supporting meal ministries of the congregation and implementing our youth gardening program.

The youth garden program (Kids Working To Succeed of KWTS) is a year-round discipleship and job training program for students ages 8-18. It includes working in the greenhouse, the grow room, the orchard and the community garden. Experience with gardening is helpful but training is available. Experience working with youth is required.

The Food Justice Organizer will also work to link the efforts of the congregation with other gardens, groups, churches and agencies in our neighborhoods and throughout the city.

The mission of All Peoples Church is: Let the glory of the Lord rise among All Peoples.

We fulfill this mission through our core values:

Kids Come First - all decisions consider in the impact on youth and families.
We make disciples - through worship and small group expressions we encourage individuals to grow in faith.
We serve soul food - Jesus made table fellowship a sign of the kingdom and our work around food justice address both the physical and spiritual needs of our community.
We partner for justice - our community is aligned with community groups and other congregations to strengthen our work for justice.
We provide sacred space - this is expressed in our care for the building, the community garden, orchard, and greenhouse and our commitment to the city.
All Peoples means all - we embrace the full diversity of our community in race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical and mental ability.
