Each year, Lutheran Volunteer Corps matches approximately 50 full time Volunteers with social justice non-profit organizations in our program cities across the U.S. The directory below provides a SAMPLE list of placement positions for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 program years.  About 80% of LVC partner organizations re-apply each year; and in addition, we will have new positions that are not yet on the list.

LVC Applicants get to see the list of available positions as part of the application and matching process, including more in depth position descriptions.

To have the widest choice of positions, apply by our Round 1 January 15th deadline. There are significantly fewer positions available for the Round 2 April 1st deadline.

Position Description

Under general supervision of the executive director, the Volunteer/Activity Coordinator is responsible for the continuation and further development of all aspects of the Hospice House Volunteer program. The individual is also responsible for scheduling a variety of activities for residents and families of Hospice House.The volunteer coordinator will oversee a vibrant volunteer program that has been in operation since Hospice House opened. The coordinator will recruit, educate, support, oversee, care for, schedule and direct and or re-direct the Hospice House volunteers. Hospice House volunteers typically assist with resident care, sit with residents for friendly visits, offer comfort or security to fearful residents and/or families and friends, extend hospitality to all, answer phones, bake cookies, etc. The volunteer coordinator will schedule inservice education and volunteer appreciation events periodically. The coordinator will maintain volunteer records (education, inservice, hours of volunteerism, database, etc.) and may develop a volunteer newsletter. The volunteer coordinator will also facilitate activities for residents and families in conjunction with current volunteers and affiliated community organizations such as Merry Makers, Healing Touch Practitioners, Pet Therapy volunteers, Omaha Musicians Guild performers, etc.
