Eat Your Veggies! Play Outside! And Other Mother(-earth)ly Advice Instilled in LVC Values

I have found a lot of joy in exploring sustainable living. Bike commutes, neighborhood walks, and cooking vegan meals have become regular practices in Wilmington LVC. Living sustainably has also proven itself to be a challenge. I went to whichever church they wanted to attend and absorbed everything they said and everything the church said. When I went to college, I took the training wheels off, but I stayed on the sidewalks in the same neighborhood. For the first time, I was in charge of where I went to church. But I still attended a similar type of church. My beliefs altered some, but not in a dramatic way. Now I’ve left the neighborhood. I’ve found different paths previously undiscovered. I’ve ventured pastRead More →

Poetry anchored the Casa Romero community multiple times throughout this month of love. Many of us went to support Levi as they hosted an open-mic night at an eclectic, inviting venue. Levi concluded the event with half an hour of reading their own work in a captivating and personal way that left us all beaming during our commute home. For our spirituality night, the house attended a reading and conversation with featured authorRead More →

Just Speak! Can you believe it? August is almost here again, which means a new cohort of Volunteers are coming in just two months!  This year’s Just Speak! portion of our 2018 National Orientation is open for anyone to attend. Just Speak! is a chance for church and community leaders to encourage, inspire and challenge our incoming Volunteers as they start their year seeking peace with justice.
