New LVC Intern – Jamie Ulrich

New LVC Intern – Jamie Ulrich

image1_optGreetings! My name is Jamie Ulrich and I am the LVC National Office’s new intern! I am working as the Social Media Coordinator and will be helping out with managing LVC’s social media platforms, coming up with some new ideas for marketing LVC, and updating our database. I started in mid-January and will be here until mid-April, doing lots of great work for an amazing organization!

I am doing my internship at LVC as a participant of the Lutheran College Washington Semester, which is a semester-long program comprised of students from various Lutheran colleges and universities from all over the country. My home school is Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania. I am a junior and am pursuing a dual major in Religion and Youth Ministry/Theology. At Thiel, I am involved in Thiel’s campus ministry through working on Chapel Staff and participating in Lutheran Student Movement. Additionally, I am a member of the Thiel Choir and Chamber Singers, the Thiel Players, Alpha Chi Honor Society, and several other organizations.

Following graduation from Thiel College, I intend to attend an ELCA seminary or divinity school to obtain my Master’s in Divinity degree. I am planning to pursue a career in campus ministry as a campus pastor. I think that non-congregational organizations like LVC play a huge role in modern ministry, so I’m excited to see this side of ministry through this internship!

I have had an absolutely incredible experience in D.C. so far. From my wonderful internship at LVC, my classes, field trips and adventures with LCWS, and many other experiences, I feel tremendously blessed to be able to live in our nation’s capital for an entire sePic1_optmester. Since moving here, I’ve attended worship at the National Cathedral, seen the monuments and memorials, toured the Capitol Building and the Supreme Court, eaten copious amounts of delicious food, participated in the Women’s March on Washington, and much, much more! I am thankful for the experiences I’ve had thus far and look forward to many more to come!Pic2

Our Spring Retreat was one for the record books for SO many reasons... but especially because we closed out the weekend with a discussion with LVC alum, Mary Merkley, and her husband, Senator Jeff Merkley. 🌟Ms. Merkley spoke about the future of our country and how the LVC helped shape her vision of a kinder, more equitable community for every person in the U.S.. 💚We are grateful to the Merkleys for their participation and to our Board member, John Carr, for arranging the discussion. Special thanks also go to Andrew McIlroy and Brian Schuh for hosting our closing dinner. 🍽️ ... See MoreSee Less

Low cost of living? ✅High population of young adults? ✅Safe haven for the LGBTQIA+ community? ✅Friendly people and community culture? ✅Thrifts, museums, festivals, and free public concerts? ✅We'd say "we told you so" when it comes to Pittsburgh, but honestly? The best way to learn about this local culture is to experience it yourself! We are still accepting applications for our NEW Pittsburgh Placements! We at LVC are honored to be partnered with The Forbes Funds for this exciting expansion! We’ve got three professional sports teams to root for. A strong economy fueled by robotics. And a cultural scene that deserves a standing ovation. But what makes Pittsburgh really special is that you can actually afford to live here, according to a marketing firm that ranks cities’ livability.Livability.com has named the Steel City one of its Top 100 Best Places to live in 2025 — a city where you can buy a home, build a career and have enough disposable income left over to splurge on game tickets, craft beer and pierogis.Read more: www.post-gazette.com/business/development/2025/04/25/pittsburgh-best-cities-to-live/stories/20250... ...
